The Hoyo de Monterrey Elegantes cigar was released exclusively for La Casa del Habano stores, which marks the second selection by the brand. It is a Tacos Vitola that measures 158mm in length with a 47 ring gauge, this extremely unique Vitola has been used only once previously by the Partagas brand. FIlled with the finest Cuban tobaccos, the Elegantes is totalmente a mano, tripa larga – man made, long filler. This cigar is beautiful in presentation with a cinnamon colored wrapper that gives off aromas of cedar mixed with chocolate. This smoke starts out with a mild body and a medium strength that increases only slightly throughout this smoke. We found light aromatic flavors mixed with a delicate sweetness from notes of caramel and cream, with almond and dashes of cinnamon coming in halfway through. We recommend smoking the Elegantes slowly and allowing the delicate flavours to introduce themselves, particularly important because of this light body of this cigar. Smoking time for these should hover around the 90 minute mark. Try pairing with a chardonnay or IPA for a leisurely experience.
